25th NATIONAL CHILDREN'S SCIENCE CONGRESS - 2017

TITLE: EFFECTS OF ENORMOUS POPULATION OF PEACOCKS ON FARMERS AND ECO SYSTEM.

STUDENTS' NAME: M.K. ADHINATHAN, K. JAGAT GURU, S.ASHWIN, N. SANDEEP

GUIDE TEACHER: J. RAJASEKARAN

ABSTRACT: Nowadays the population of Peacocks affect the farmers and eco system around our Karur district. The productivity of the agriculture goes down and the economic status of the farmers is also affected severely. It is a high time to control the population of Peacocks; otherwise the situation of farmers will be very worse. At the same time hunting Peacock is an offence as it is our National Bird.So we have to find a right solution to solve this problem. Our source of remedy to solve this problem is also a natural way of balancing the eco system.

When we investigated the farmers we got an idea of constructing "Bio fence or Green fence" around their farms. This method was followed in olden days to control the population of peacocks and balancing the eco system.

By constructing the bio fence, the eco system was controlled naturally. This bio fence will be the shelter for various insects, birds & animals and their population will be controlled by the food chain processes.

From our observations and analysis the big animals feed on small animals, their eggs & the young ones for their food. This enables in balancing the eco system.

As the number of foxes and wild cat is highly decreased due to the absence of bio fence system, the population of peacocks were increased enormously. These foxes and wild cats will consume the eggs of peacocks, so that their rate is controlled effectively.

As far as we have understood, Bio fence will be the right remedy for this problem in which the population of peacocks can be controlled naturally.

26th NATIONAL CHILDREN'S SCIENCE CONGRESS - 2018

1. TITLE: WASTE MANAGEMENT-NEED OF THE HOUR IN KARUR TO BUILD A HEALTHIER SOCIETY

STUDENTS' NAME:DHAYA SUPRAJA A, MADHUMITHA

GUIDE TEACHER:T. SATHEESH KUMAR

ABSTRACT: Solid waste management is a major problem for many urban and local bodies in India, where urbanization, industrialization and economic growth have resulted in increased solid waste generation. Non- bio degradable waste is not collected separately and our government did not take the waste disposal as a bigger issue. We like to project our locality problem through this platform which focuses on our focal theme of science forum in our home town.We too face the same waste management problem. So we have planned to start from our locality.

Some of the places in Karur which was affected by the non bio-degradable waste are Vangal, Kuppuchipalayam and Arasu colony in Karur .These are the places where all these wastes from Karur is collected, dumped and burnt. By burning the waste in the open area, we get air pollution and burning of plastics, polythene bags emit dioxin and styrene. Due to burning of these garbages, people around these places are suffering from Asthma, diseases related to Bronchitis and Cancer.

As it is our home town we have planned to create awareness among the people and we are in a position to find a solution to this problem too.

We have planned to have a permanent solution for disposing the plastics and this should be the end point for it. We looked for the various ways of disposing it, and then we found the way of laying roads by using plastics.

This project was exhibited in 26th NATIONAL CHILDREN'S SCIENCE CONGRESS - 2018 & was selected to state level that was held at "KPR COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING" - Coimbatore

TITLE: ECO FRIENDLY BAMBOO WATER BOTTLES

STUDENTS' NAME: M. HEMSHREE & M. RITHANYA

GUIDE TEACHER: J. RAJASEKARAN

ABSTRACT: The 27th National Children's Science Congress was held on November 5th 2019 at Jairam Arts & Science College, Karur where 360 research articles on science were submitted by different schools. The article on ECO FRIENDLY BAMBOO WATER BOTTLES, written by M. Hemshree & M. Rithanya of Grade 8 from Sri Sankara Vidyalayaa School, Karur was one among the best of 22 articles.

These students were guided by Mr.J. Rajasekaran, their Science teacher. When interviewed, the students said that bamboo is Eco friendly when compared to plastic and they wanted to create awareness on the use of plastic among people. Their teacher Mr.J. Rajasekaran added that bamboo is one of the best alternatives to plastic bottles.

He also said that bamboos boost up the collagen which helps in preventing skin diseases, cardiovascular diseases and even cancer. The research also found that bamboo can be cultivated in and around Tamilnadu with a very little supply of water.

NALAIYA VINGYANI - 2019.

1. TITLE: AUTOMATIC BILLING TROLLEY IN SUPER MARKET

STUDENT NAME: S.S.VIKAS

GUIDE TEACHER: T.SATHEESH KUMAR

ABSTRACT: This project comes under Digital India. In supermarket, people stand in a queue to bill their products.

It is a waste of time for them. In this project we use RFID tag in which all the information about the product is stored. This RFID tag is fixed in all the products.

RFID reader is placed in the circuit; this circuit is placed in the trolley. When the product is taken and put inside the trolley, the cost of the product which is stored in the RFID tag will be read by the RFID reader and the cost will be displayed.

When the second product is kept inside the trolley, the amount will be added automatically and displayed in the board which is in the trolley.

So, the customer can easily know the total amount purchased and directly go to the payment section and pay the total amount and he/she need not struggle in billing section without knowing its cost and quantity.

Selected for district level INSPIRE MANAK 2019 and won Rs10000 cash prize and displayed in CODISSIA Science and Technology fair at Coimbatore.

2. TITLE: WATER CONSERVATION ALARM

STUDENT NAME: K. THAANUJ

GUIDE TEACHER: T.SATHEESH KUMAR

ABSTRACT: The idea of the project is to conserve water. I have made this project because we are wasting water and ground water level is getting decreased now-a-days. I have used Arduino Uno kit and IR sensors to detect water leakage.

If there is a humanbeing near the tap or sink the alarm won't be activated, if there is no humanbeing near but if the tap leaks water, the alarm will be activated until we close the tap properly or stop the water leaking. This project has been selected by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India under the scheme JAL SAKTHI ABHIYAN.
